Rockstar Games officially confirms GTA6 is finally coming

Rockstar Games officially confirms when fans can expect the first GTA6 trailer release.

Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 will drop in early December. It’s been over a decade since Grand Theft Auto 5 launched, and so it’s understandable that fans are extremely anxious to play GTA 6. Unfortunately, official news on Grand Theft Auto 6 has been hard to come by, with Rockstar only just confirming the game’s existence in February of last year.

After fans eagerly waited for years and amid lots of rumors, Rockstar Games‘ co-founder Sam Houser shared some exciting news on November 8th. He announced on the studio’s blog and Twitter that the “first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto” will be out in early December.

In just few hours, the tweet got almost a hundred million views, nearly five hundred thousand retweets, and over one million likes. All this buzz was just for announcing that there’s going to be another announcement.

When is the GTA 6 Trailer Coming Out?

Some fans might feel a bit bummed that Houser didn’t give a specific date for when the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer will come out. Still, it’s cool to know it’s happening in early December. The Game Awards 2023 is on December 7, and that could be when the GTA 6 trailer comes out. But it’s more likely that Rockstar will do its own thing and drop the trailer on a different day. Either way, if the GTA 6 trailer isn’t out by then, fans should definitely watch The Game Awards, just in case.

We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you. Thank you, Sam Houser

GTA 6 Release Date and Platforms

In 2021, Tom Henderson shared rumors about Grand Theft Auto 6 possibly coming out in 2024 or 2025. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier and VGC’s Andy Robinson backed up this info. Fast forward to May this year, Take-Two Interactive predicted big things for its 2025 fiscal year, aiming for over $8 billion in Net Bookings and $1 billion in Adjusted Unrestricted Operating Cash Flow.

Considering this and Rockstar’s recent trailer announcement, it looks like Grand Theft Auto 6 might finally arrive next year or shortly after. It’s doubtful it’ll be on PS4 and Xbox One, given the ambitious nature of GTA games and the advanced PS5 and Xbox Series generation. A PC version is probable, possibly released a bit later than the console versions, similar to what happened with GTA V.

We’re Finally Getting GTA 6!

After a long journey filled with various twists and turns, our first glimpse of Grand Theft Auto 6 is right around the corner. From all sorts of news stories, studio changes, wild leaks, the departure of key studio figures, to even the FBI getting involved in a cybercrime investigation— it’s been a rollercoaster. What’s even crazier is that Rockstar hasn’t officially named it GTA 6; they’re simply calling it “the next Grand Theft Auto.” This leaves us all wondering what they might have up their sleeves!

Despite all the unexpected paths, everything seems to be converging toward one destination: the reveal trailer for what promises to be one of the biggest games ever, set to drop in early December.
